What to Expect in Your Movement Therapy Sessions
I observe the way you move to understand your unique movement patterns and discover opportunities for greater ease and efficiency. Whether working together in my studio, in your own space, or virtually, I guide you through movements and exercises designed to mobilize both the skeletal and muscular systems. This work will result in the release of tension, increased energy, freedom from pain and a greater awareness of your body and its potential.
I will show you exercises that are simple, gentle, functional movements that lay the groundwork for more complex and effective movement. The exercises provide relief from aches and pains.
You will gain awareness of how your movement patterns may restrict or promote strength, fluidity, mobility, expression, balance and integration. In essence, you will re-learn basic body movements, helping you to re-pattern. The result is a body that can move efficiently and free from pain.
During the first session, your movement patterns are analyzed. I make comprehensive evaluations of your body in motion, to determine under- and over-used patterns and structural imbalances. Next, I will teach you how to work with these patterns of movement that cause pain with a set of simple, developmental movements, known as Bartenieff Fundamentals.™
In subsequent sessions these new patterns of movements are fine-tuned and the number of movements and exercises are increased. Each session builds on one another and is customized to your personal needs.
